March 6

Started indoors:

  • dill (PC Organic Dill; Dukat Dill)
  • chives
  • parsley (Forest Green)
  • cilantro
  • oregano (Greek Oregano)
  • cauliflower (Cauliflower Blend)
  • broccoli (Hybrid Broccoli Blend)
  • hot peppers (Early Jalapeño)
  • fennel (Florence Fennel)

Spotted growth:

  • 2 yellow alpine strawberry bushes in trough are green. No flowers.

Weather:

  • Sunny but freezing overnight

March 8

Started indoors:

  • onions (Riverside Sweet Spanish)
  • tomatoes (Prudens Purple, Siletz, Taxi)

Spotted growth:

  • 2 new Parsley sprouts!

Weather:

  • Snow March 8-9

March 16

(just over a week since planting)


Total growth:

  • 4 broccoli sprouts
  • 5 pepper sprouts (possibly, may be weeds)
  • 15 fennel sprouts
  • 7 purple tomato sprouts
  • 25 onions sprouts
  • 3 cauliflower sprouts
  • 8 cilantro sprouts
  • 12 parsley sprouts
  • 3 siletz tomato sprouts
  • 1 taxi tomato sprout
  • lots of dill
  • no oregano or chives

  • Tried to transplant/thin dill, killed most of them
  • Tried to transplant/thin sweet onion, killed most of them
  • Was somewhat successful thinning cilantro

  • Laid out grid pattern at plot

  • Mesculin mix (mild and tangy varieties)

  • Kale (two varieties)

  • Leeks (Bandit)
  • Tomatoes, three varieties (to complement those that already sprouted)
  • Sweet onions (to replace those sprouts that died)
  • Hot peppers (to complement those that already sprouted)
  • Chives (2nd try, none sprouted last time)
  • Dill (to replace those sprouts that died)
  • Basil
  • Sugar Snap Peas (Sugar Ann)
  • Cauliflower (to complement those that already sprouted)
  • Broccoli (to complement those that already sprouted)
  • Fennel (to complement those that already sprouted)
