Jerk Tofu


Ingredients


  • 1 package firm tofu, drained, pressed and sliced
  • 1 onion, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped (optional)

Instructions


  1. Puree all ingredients (except tofu)
  2. Place tofu slices in a bowl and marinate with the sauce for an hour or two
  3. Fry tofu in a skillet with a small amount of oil until crispy and browned, 8-10 minutes on each side
