Sweet Potato Biscuits


  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons honey or white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3/4 cup mashed roasted sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup milk


  1. Preheat oven to 400.
  2. Combine dry ingredients.
  3. Cut in shortening.
  4. Add sweet potato and enough milk for desired wetness.
  5. Roll/flatten to about 1-2cm high and cut out biscuits using measuring cup, drinking glass, etc.
  6. Bake until golden brown, 12-15 minutes.


  • Next time, might be interesting to brush tops with a small sauce of milk and honey or maple syrup for a light glaze. This would be done before they go into the oven.
