Walnut Bread

Makes 1 round loaf

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 envelope dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 3 tablespoons walnut oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  4. Mix in walnuts.
  5. Put dough back in bowl, let rise until doubled (1 hour).
  6. Punch down dough, let rise until doubled (1 hour). Preheat oven to 400F.
  7. Shape dough into smooth ball and place on baking sheet.
  8. Bake 35-45 minutes, or until bread is brown and sounds hollow when thumped.
