Panel de Pon for the DS has been announced in Japan. Online multiplayer is included. Why should you care? Because Panel de Pon is actually Tetris Attack. If that comes out here, Steve Gray can destroy us all over the interwebs.

Except for me since I left my DS on an airplane in Regina :(
I am going to see if Westjet found it and want to mail it back...

A North American version has now been confirmed. Online, and even headset compatible!
Bring it, Stephen.

Consider it brought.
Actually, the touch controls should be interesting. Will it lend itself to a tighter control scheme or a more loose one? Will it react fast enough? With Pokemon Puzzle league, you could play with the analog stick, but it was far to loose to use accurately or quickly. The traditional directional pad was the only way to go.
Switching between lines vertically should definitely be faster though. And the second screen should give a nicer indication of how many blocks are on top of you.

It should be much, much faster, if they make the stylus input instantaneous. If they can make it as responsive as Meteos, this will be some hot puzzle action.

Another thing to take note of is coming out in a weeks time in Japan. Which is where Colin and Sarah, the current reigning champions, are living. They're going to get months of practice with this before we do. >.<
Ah well, it means we all have something to shoot for. =)

This could also be something to shoot for.

Picked this up today. Using the stylus is a plus for sure.
Now I will practice with "Eye of the Tiger" playing in the background while being encouaged by a grizzled old coach who may have a rough exterior, but also has a heart of gold.
| Matt |
He'll yell at you and call you a worthless sack of crap, but in a moment when you're busy hitting a punching bag or walking on hot coals he will quietly look at you, smile, and stroke his chin. "That kid's gonna turn out all right"

I'm absolutely loving the stylus interface, but I'm finding the online competition a bit lacking. There have been a couple of oppenents that have lasted a little while, but no one who can match the level of those who shall not be named.
...
Who come back from Japan in a months time.

Must train harder!!!
